Reginald I. Vachon, P.E., has been selected by the Nominating Committee as ASME's next president-nominee.

Vachon, an active member for 42 years, holds the highest grade of membership, Honorary Member. He is president of VNA Systems Inc., which develops artificial intelligence and machine-vision devices for medical diagnostics.

His goals as president include motivating individuals, particularly young people, to get involved with ASME International; to have ASME perform as an agile, responsive organization; to establish a marketing group to anticipate needs of members and customers in a changing global economy; and to lead through personal interaction within ASME, while continuing initiatives to enable ASME to become the premier international engineering society.

The membership will vote in September on the nomination of Vachon and others selected last month at the Summer Annual Meeting.
