Nina Webb is the new president of the ASME Auxiliary. She took office last month during the Summer Annual Meeting. Nina has served on the board of directors for two years as the executive vice president. Many of you know her as the person who set up and coordinated the speakers program for the Regional Student Conferences during her tenure in that office.

What many do not know, or may not remember, is that she is a retired elementary schoolteacher from Florida, with a Ph.D. in early childhood education. Nina is also a licensed pilot. She is very active in many other interesting areas, as well.

At SAM, we welcomed Myrna Zamrik to our board of directors. Myrna is filling the role left vacant when Nina became president. Myrna lives in Pennsylvania in the summer and in Mesa, Ariz., in the winter. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and traveling.
Myrna is the person to contact to get speakers at the Regional Conferences, and to discuss plans for the various meetings of the Auxiliary. Questions about the Speakers Program should be e-mailed to Myrna at Lizdoodle@aol.com.

In other business, a $2,000 donation by the Los Angeles Section of the ASME Auxiliary makes it possible to give one Parsons (Doctoral) Scholarship this year. Enough money was contributed toward the Debbie Mercer Fund to provide a Farny Scholarship in her name. Two or more Farny Scholarships may be offered this year also from the general fund.

The Rothermel (Master's) Scholarship may well be able to give one and possibly two scholarships. Donations have been coming in for scholarships, so we thank everyone who has contributed.

The ASME Auxiliary made 36 loans this past year totaling $88,000. Loans are available anytime during the year. For information regarding loans, please e-mail Janet Watson at jwatson@bellatlantic.net.

All donations toward both the scholarship and loan programs are greatly appreciated by the mechanical engineering students who receive them to complete their education.
Additional donations should be sent to Lynn Gerber, ASME Auxiliary Treasurer, at 8815 Rockwood Rd., Boston, NY 14025-9780. Thanks to all who have contributed.
