ASME staff contributes to Katrina Relief; Society matches $10K

In the days immediately following Hurricane Katrina's landfall in the central Gulf Coast region, ASME staff, led by Human Resources, were challenged to raise $10,000 toward American Red Cross efforts.

"Thanks to all of you who generously donated to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, we've reached our goal of $10,000 — great job everyone," said Laurel Raso, managing director, Human Resources.

For every dollar contributed by staff, ASME provided matching funds, up to $10,000. At a reception held at ASME headquarters in New York City, Executive Director Virgil Carter presented David A. Gibbs, director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, American Red Cross, with a donation check from ASME.

"Through the generosity of organizations like ASME, the American Red Cross can help put lives back together. Thank you all for your generous support," said Gibbs.
