Six universities have been selected to receive funds from the Lucy and Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarship for the 2005-06 academic year. The ASME Auxiliary received 16 applications for the scholarships from university mechanical engineering departments this year, down from 21 applications last year.

The following schools received $6,000 each to distribute to entering freshman for the current academic year: New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, N.J.; Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minn; Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa.; Universidad de Guanajuato, Salamanca, Mexico; University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va.

Although the suggested amount to award to each student is $2,000, the winning mechanical engineering departments are free to distribute the money to students as they see fit.

In other Auxiliary news, the organization's Philadelphia Section has decided to disband. A letter will go out to all of the section's members, who will now become members-at-large of the Auxiliary.

In addition, the Auxiliary's National Board is looking for a person to fill its executive vice president position. If you are interested, please contact Myrna Zamrik at Lizdoodle1@aol.com.
