The Rice-Cullimore Scholarship for the 2004–05 academic year was presented to Alfredo Valarezo of Ecuador for study toward a master's degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in Long Island.

Robert Bennett gave the check to Valarezo at a private luncheon at the campus cafeteria in October.

Last month at the National Board meeting, the following proposed changes to the constitution of the ASME Auxiliary were presented. These changes have become necessary because of the Associate Membership category and the two Clarke Scholarships.

These changes would also allow those appointed to the board as a courtesy or as liaison with an ASME unit to participate in discussions and share information. Control of policies, finance, etc., will be retained by Auxiliary National Board members.

The changes were approved by the National Board at its meeting last month and will be presented for approval of the membership at the annual meeting in June 2005.

The changes are: under Article III, Officers and Directors, Section 2, the following will be added to the existing first sentence: "Others may serve on the National Board as ex-officio, non-voting members when common interests make it mutually advantageous. The Auxiliary president may appoint a person to this limited category, the appointment being for a specific period of time."

The following will be added to Section 3: "All voting members of the National Board shall be members of the ASME Auxiliary at the Section, Member-at-Large, or Life category."

Sections 3 and 4 will be renumbered 4 and 5.
