Enhanced Fellow nomination process is streamlined to hasten approval

ASME recently streamlined the process for nominating eligible members to the Society's Fellow status.

Changes were made both to clarify the process and to speed nomination approvals, while continuing to maintain the high standard of Fellow qualifications.

Among the enhancements are: a reduction in the number of categories used to describe the candidate's qualifications and background, which are then used by the Fellow Review Committee to qualify Fellow candidates.

Eleven categories were consolidated into nine categories to assist the initiators in clarifying significant engineering achievement for their Fellow candidates.

The time between nomination and approval was reduced by a month, when two committees that participated in the nomination process — the Fellow Subcommittee of the Committee of Past Presidents and the Admissions Committee — were consolidated into one. That unit, the Fellow Review Committee (FRC) can now qualify an application within approximately two months.

The nomination process can be further expedited by submitting all application documentation electronically to riveral@asme.org.
