ASME to Offer Training in RAMCAP Risk Analysis System

ASME and Alion Science and Technology will hold five training courses in 2008 on the ASME Risk Analysis and Management for Critical Asset Protection (RAMCAP) program.

The three-day courses will be held once a month from February to June, and aim to provide security and risk management professionals with the knowledge and skills to implement RAMCAP, which is a framework for analyzing and managing the risks associated with natural disasters and terrorist attacks on chemical refineries, power plants, and other critical infrastructures.

Developed under contract with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, RAMCAP includes a standardized methodology to carry out vulnerability analysis, threat assessment, risk management, and other steps to safeguard facilities, systems, and personnel. RAMCAP is a program of Washington, D.C.-based ASME Innovative Technologies Institute LLC, which provides technology products and services to the government, industry, and academic markets.

The first of the five training courses, which will prepare participants to take the RAMCAP certification exam, is set for Feb. 11–13 at Alion Science and Technology in Washington. Alion, a technology solutions firm, has teamed with ASME to provide automated tools for analyzing and managing risks. Jay Robinson, a security and defense analyst at Alion, will provide live instruction in the courses.

Additional training dates are scheduled for March 10–12, April 14–16, May 5–7, and June 9–11. Discount exam fees are extended to ASME members.

For venues, registration and further information, contact Virginia Murphey at Alion, (703) 998-1670, or e-mail vmurphey@alionscience.com.
