ASME Leadership Training Offered Next Month in Atlanta

With more than 270 volunteers already registered, the 2008 Leadership Training Conference (LTC) in Atlanta next month is shaping up to be the biggest LTC yet. Registration is still open for the event, which provides new ASME leaders with a venue where they can learn about the Society as well as meet ASME staff members and network with other volunteers.

"Moving to the Next Level of Excellence: Commitment to Purpose" is the theme of the 2008 LTC, which will be held on March 7–8 at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel. The LTC gives ASME members who are soon to become unit leaders and key committee personnel an opportunity to develop their leadership knowledge and skills, share best practices, form partnerships with other units, and focus on issues that are critical to the success of the Society. This year, ASME units are being encouraged to send more than one delegate.

The meeting will include an ASME 101 track, with workshops for new and incoming unit leaders that will cover basic organizational operations and tools as well as provide an overview of the Society's organization, activities, and resources; information and methods to help new ASME leaders succeed in heading up their new Society units; an opportunity to network with other leaders and ASME staff; and a forum for exchanging ideas and developing program plans. An Advanced Leadership Forum track — for more experienced unit leaders or those who have attended a previous LTC — is being introduced to create opportunities beyond basic leadership.

Attendance at the Leadership Training Conference is by invitation only. LTC delegates are selected by unit leaders in ASME's various districts, sections, technical divisions, subdivisions, institutes, and other sectors. If you are interested in attending, please contact your unit leader.
