Powerhouse panel marks Turbo Expo's 50th anniversary

A landmark panel of five power industry executives, who will offer their insights on technology needs in the future, as well as market opportunities for gas turbines, will mark the 50th anniversary of Turbo Expo, which will take place June 6-9 in Reno, Nev.

The panelists will include David L. Calhoun, who is the president and chief executive officer at GE Transportation; Louis Chênevert, president of Pratt & Whitney; John G. Rice, president and chief executive officer of GE Energy; Sir Ralph Robins, former chairman of Rolls-Royce; and Randy H. Zwirn, president and CEO at Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp.

The panel will be moderated by Brian H. Rowe, chairman emeritus of GE Aircraft Engines and executive conference chair of Turbo Expo 2005. Following the presentations, a question-and-answer period will give attendees an opportunity to ask the experts about the role gas turbines will play in meeting the future needs of transportation and power generation on a global scale.

The keynote session, "Gas Turbine Technology: Focus for the Future," will be held Monday morning, June 6, opening the four-day Turbo Expo conference.

Power & Energy, a sister publication of Mechanical Engineering magazine, was named the official publication of Turbo Expo 2005.

Originally called the ASME Gas Turbine Conference and Products Show, today's ASME Turbo Expo is recognized as a premier conference and exposition focused exclusively on international gas turbine technology. Having drawn thousands of engineers, operations personnel, suppliers, educators and consultants through the years, Turbo Expo continues a rich tradition.

The Atlanta-based ASME International Gas Turbine Institute presents Turbo Expo as a worldwide forum for engineers, research scientists and other professionals involved in gas turbine design, operations and maintenance.
