The four ASME members selected for participation
in the Minority Leadership Program began their 12-month internships
during Congress in November.
The goal of the program, which is sponsored by the Board on Diversity
and Outreach, is to increase the participation of women and under-represented
minority members through mentoring and leadership development. With
the guidance of a mentor, each intern participates in the activities
of the sponsoring board or committee as a non-voting member.
The 2004-2005 MLP interns and assignments: Aureen Currin, International
Gas Turbine Institute; Cassandra Dugal, Member Interest and Development;
Paola Jaramillo, Engineering Education; and Micki Marshall, Pre-College
Education.
Participation in the MLP intern program is open to ASME's female
and under-represented minority members who have attained associate member
status.
Program information is at www.asme.org/communities/diversities/bdo/
minorityleadership.html. Application deadline for the 2005-06
internship program is July 15.
