Glenn L. Beall, an ASME member, was inducted into two prestigious British organizations during the past year.

First, Beall was initiated into the 700-year-old Worshipful Company of Horners last summer. The Worshipful Company of Horners, which is both an ancient guild and livery company, maintains the constitution, traditions and customs of the city of London, while promoting the interests and developments of the plastics industry as well as scientific education. Beall is the first American citizen to be admitted to the organization.

In a separate ceremony in October, Beall was also granted Freedom of the City of London at London's Guildhall. This honor is bestowed by the Corporation of London, which provides local government services for London as well as a host of services for the rest of Britain. Very few Americans have received the distinction.

Beall was honored with admittance to these two organizations for his long service in the plastics industry, his insistent promotion of the industry and his work as an educator. He is a product designer, inventor, consultant, lecturer, author and plastics activist. He is president of Glenn Beall Plastics Ltd. of Libertyville, Ill. Beall has been an ASME member since 1973.
