ASME's first Nano/Bioengineering Trends and Applications Conference will take place April 3 in Portland, Ore.

The one-day conference is a follow-up to ASME's first Bioengineering Technology Seminar, a series of courses focusing on artificial organs and biomaterials, which will be held March 31-April 2. The conference will give attendees an overview of the nanotechnology and bioengineering fields.

The topics will include "Biomimetic Engineering — Molecular Biomimetics: Nanotechnolgy." The speaker will be Mehmet Sarikaya of the University of Washington. Don Anderson of the University of Iowa will discuss "Biomaterials — Orthopaedic and Dental Applications of Biomaterials."

Both speakers will participate in a panel discussion with a question-and-answer session to follow the presentations.

The cost for members will be $95. Nonmembers will be charged $125.

Details about the Nano/Bio conference will be available mid-month at www.asme.org.
