This is the time of year to remind students that
the deadline for submission of applications for Auxiliary Scholarships
is March 15.
Auxiliary loans, however, are available all during the year in amounts
from $1,000 to a maximum of $3,000. Although the Auxiliary currently has
outstanding loans of more than $90,000, there is still money available
for more of them. Returns on previous loans come in every day to the Student
Loan Treasurer, James Chenoweth.
The conditions for loans have not changed. Interest on outstanding balances
does not begin until six months after graduation, and the rate of interest
has remained at 6 percent. It is also the policy of the Auxiliary not
to grant both a scholarship and a loan to the same student in the same
academic year.
At the most recent Auxiliary Board meeting in New Orleans, our president,
Nina Webb, announced the following appointments: Shirley Falcon to the
Rothermel Scholarship Committee, replacing Marion Schultz, who resigned;
Bett Dinkler to the Undergraduate Scholarship Committee, replacing Phyllis
Anderson, who resigned; Dorothy Landwaard to the Rice-Cullimore Scholarship
Committee, replacing Bernice Kotnick who resigned; Barbara Goldstein and
Robert Bennett to serve on the Executive Committee as alternates; K.R.
Rao will serve on a committee of one to set up and maintain a database
of scholarship winners.
