Involvement may net top prize of $5,000 in Young Engineers Award

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2001 Young Engineers Award.
The award recognizes younger members who have done an outstanding job of actively involving themselves in their profession, in their communities and in the work of the Society.

If you know of a colleague who qualifies, please take the time to submit a nomination.

The grand prize of $5,000 plus a prepaid life membership in ASME will be awarded to the successful candidate. Two runner-up prizes — prepaid life memberships in ASME — will be awarded to the next two most qualified individuals. Each prize winner will receive a plaque as a commemorative gift.

The Old Guard, which sponsors the Young Engineers Award, provides guidance and programs to help young engineers bridge the gap between college and professional life and to bring them closer to ASME activities.

To qualify, the nominee must be a current member of ASME who has maintained continuous membership since first becoming a student member. Nominees also must have received a baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering no less than four and no more than six years before the application deadline.

Applications received by March 1, 2002, will be considered for awards to be made at the 2002 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in New Orleans.
