New and updated computer-based CDs are launched by CEI

ASME's Continuing Education Institute is making available several new computer-based training tools for those engineers who want to stay current with the
profession.

ASME Code B31.3 was recently revised by Glynn Woods, the author. The revision is designed to give users a clear understanding of how piping systems fail and what the code requires the designer, erector, examiner, fabricator, inspector, manufacturer, supplier and owner to do to prevent such failures.

The goal of the tool is to enhance users' understanding and application of the B31.3 Code. The cost is $595 for members and $695 for nonmembers.

Another revision — of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, Division 1, Design and Fabrication of Pressure Vessels — is also available. With this personalized, self-paced, comprehensive training program, you master Section VIII, Division 1, and learn to design vessels that conform to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. You also have the opportunity to earn 7 Continuing Education Units.

This CBT includes a CD-ROM with 40 interactive exercises that direct and assess your progress along with a training manual divided into eight modules to provide a structured, comprehensive program of study.

The price is $895 for members and $995 for nonmembers.

The Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Trainer is new. The GD&T Trainer is a comprehensive course in the fundamentals of GD&T right on your desktop.

This computer-based training program will allow users to learn GD&T on their own terms. You'll get feedback on your skills as you work through the course at your own pace, and when it fits into your schedule.

The GD&T Trainer can be used as a complete course in GD&T, including quizzes, final exam and certificate of completion for completing the course; an informal seminar in GD&T; a supplement to live training; an internal GD&T certification and as an on-the-job reference tool.

The cost is $625.50 for members and $695 for nonmembers.
