Fourth Young Engineers Satellite forum to be
broadcast March 28
A changing political landscape, the rise of the stock
market, the fall of the stock market all lead to questions about what
is happening with the economy and, more importantly, how will it affect your
job as an engineer? Or, your next job?
The next Young Engineers Satellite broadcast will offer some perspective
for answering job-market-related questions. The forum will be broadcast March
28, from noon to 1:30 p.m. EST.
The topics for discussion will be: Keeping Up with Technical Information
after Graduation, Expectations of the Professional World, Networking Skills,
and Job Search Skills.
Stacey Swisher-Harnetty, chair of ASME's Board on Student Affairs, will be
the moderator.
Panelists will include Scott Blair, past chair of IEEE's Regional Activities
Board's Graduates of the Last Decade committee, and Glenda Harris, who is
active in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' mentoring program
and a process engineer with Mallinckrodt Baker Inc.
The last panelist will be an engineer with recruiting experience from an
international engineering company.
The Satellite Forum will include time for phone-in questions to the panelists.
If you already have those questions, you may e-mail them to either Robin
Jacobs (jacobsr@asme.org) or Kathy J. Warner (warnerk@asme.org) and they
will try to answer them in the planned remarks. Some toll-free numbers will
be available to call in the questions during the broadcast.
For those groups that order their downlink before Feb. 16 the price will
be $170 for ASME members and $270 for nonmembers. Following Feb. 16, the
downlink price will increase to $195 for ASME members and $295 for nonmembers.
Details about how you and your section or group can host a downlink and
participate in this program are available on ASME's Web site,
www.asme.org/pro_dev/satellitebroadcast.html.
A list of downlink sites that will be broadcasting this forum will be posted
on the Web site.
However, if you require assistance in locating a downlink site, contact Robin
