ASME to Debut Micro/Nanoscale Heat Transfer Conference in Taiwan

Research and education on micro- and nanoscale heat transfer has advanced rapidly over the last decade and is now having a direct impact on other fields in both science and engineering. In response to the increased interest in this area, ASME will introduce a new conference dedicated to micro- and nanoscale heat transfer next month in Taiwan.

This new meeting, the ASME Micro/Nanoscale Heat Transfer International Conference, will make its debut at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, from Jan. 6–9, 2008.

The meeting is sponsored by the ASME Heat Transfer Division, the ASME Nanotechnology Institute, and several regional organizers, including the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Cheng Kung University, and the Industrial Technology and Research Institute in Taiwan.

This conference is dedicated to Chang-Lin Tien (1935–2002), a world-renowned scholar and a leader in higher education, whose intellect and unique visions have continued to inspire our most serious efforts in expanding the frontiers of micro- and nanoscale heat transfer.

The meeting's technical program will focus on state-of-the-art research and development in micro- and nanoscale heat transfer, bringing together researchers and educators from all over the world.

The conference will include keynote presentations and invited papers, as well as contributed oral and poster presentations. Sessions have been divided into 17 technical tracks, covering a range of topics including microscopic modeling of thermophysical processes and properties; microfluidics and nanofluidics; heat transport in small scales; ultrafast heat transport; interfacial heat transfer; microchannels; micro- and nanoscale experimental heat transfer; micro- and miniature two-phase systems; applications of micro- and nanoscale heat transfer; and thermophysical and mechanical properties.

Other technical tracks will address ultrafast coupling in small scales; nanosystems and engineering; nano- and microscale thermal radiation; computational micro- and nanoscale heat and mass transfer; and micro- and nanoscale heat and mass transfer in biomedical systems.

Registration for the ASME Micro/Nanoscale Heat Transfer International Conference is $445 for ASME members, $495 for nonmembers, and $250 for students. One-day registration for ASME members is $345, while one-day registration for nonmembers is $395.
