Funding the Future

As the December holiday season rapidly approaches, many of us will be making lists of family and friends to honor with a card or gift. Around the globe, many organizations and individuals benefit from seasonal generosity. As you are reflecting on those whom you wish to acknowledge this holiday season, consider adding the ASME Foundation to your list of gift recipients.

The ASME Foundation helps assure the growth and longevity of the mechanical engineering community through the generosity of ASME members and like-minded individuals who contribute to the future of engineering.

Today's world faces issues ranging from climate change and energy shortages to crumbling infrastructure and threats of terrorism, all of which require the technological expertise of engineers to resolve. Will we have enough engineers to create solutions to these troubling global matters? Are our educational systems adequately encouraging students to pursue technical studies early enough? Are our college students receiving the support they need to excel and to compete in the corporate world following completion of their degrees?

The ASME Foundation is committed to creating solutions to those questions. The funding priorities of the Foundation are centered around technical literacy, career planning and skills development, and technologically sound public policy stewardship.

Within those three areas, the Foundation assists engineering students as well as early career engineers in a variety of ways.

Scholarships and fellowships awarded through the auspices of the Foundation help meet the rising cost of an engineer's education. Programs and activities such as educational tools for both teachers and students along with professional mentoring make sure that students receive the education that will help them excel in their career preparations, and that early career engineers continue to grow and thrive.

There is still more we can do to ensure engineering's bright future, and we are counting on your support to assist us. Your gift to the ASME Foundation will help ensure that students and early career engineers continue to get the kind of support they need to excel in the tradition of excellence that ASME and its members have helped establish. Please take a moment today to make your tax deductible gift online at http://foundation.asme.org/Donate.

The future of engineering is, indeed, the future of the world. The ASME Foundation is committed to ensuring that engineers will offer innovative solutions to increasingly complex global issues. Together we can help make that happen.
