ASME medical device journal debuts

The inaugural issue of ASME's new journal, the "Journal of Medical Devices," is now available.

The journal, which will be published four times per year, focuses on applied research and the development of new medical devices or instrumentation.

The publication will present papers on devices that improve diagnostic interventional and therapeutic treatments, as well as provide special coverage of novel devices that allow new surgical strategies, new methods of drug delivery, or possible reductions in the complexity, cost, or adverse results of health care.

The journal's Design Innovation section features papers focusing on novel devices, including some with limited clinical or engineering results. The journal's other section, Medical Device News, provides coverage of advances, trends, and events.
