Joint Rail Conference on schedule for April arrival

The ASME Rail Transportation Division, in partnership with the Land Transportation Division of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, will present the 2006 Joint Rail Conference in Atlanta during April.

The conference will take place April 4-6, 2006, at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel.

The annual conference aims to provide a forum for technical information exchange among professionals in the business of passenger and freight rail transportation. Attendees will include equipment manufacturers, rail maintenance and operations personnel, government representatives, and other professionals involved in the business of passenger and freight rail transportation.

The theme of the two-day technical conference is "Restoring and Upgrading Rail Infrastructure, Rolling Stock and Systems." The forum will feature technical papers focusing on advances in design, analysis, and testing of equipment serving the rail industries. The conference will begin with a technical tour, tentatively scheduled for a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) maintenance facility.
