Standard for portable power tools is updated

An updated version of the B107.4 standard for portable power tools is now available from ASME Codes and Standards.

"B107.4-2005 Driving and Spindle Ends for Portable Hand, Impact, Air and Electric Tools (Percussion Tools Excluded)" is the new version of the standard, which was previously published in 1995.

This B107.4 standard applies to portable power tools for drilling, grinding, polishing, sawing, and driving threaded fasteners and to hand tools for driving threaded fasteners.

The standard includes dimensions and tolerances for both driving and driven elements where such coordination is important and not established by reference to the pertinent American National Standards. All dimensions are in inches and millimeters.

"B107.4-2005 Driving and Spindle Ends for Portable Hand, Impact, Air and Electric Tools (Percussion Tools Excluded)" is available in both print and electronic versions.

The 32-page printed publication (Order No. N02305) is $36. An electronic version of the standard, published as a PDF file, can be purchased at the ASME Digital Store (http://store.asme.org) for $42.
