The Rothermel Scholarship for a master's degree for the 2004–05 academic year was awarded to Barbara Hattemer, from Region XI. The Parsons Scholarship for doctoral students for the 2004–05 academic year was awarded to Timothy Chung of the California Institute of Technology.

Twenty-one applications were received for the Lucy and Charles W.E. Clarke Scholarships. This is a substantial increase from previous years. The six winning departments of mechanical engineering that received $6,000 each for the 2004–05 academic year are: Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.; New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, N.J.; the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wis.; Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.; Penn State University in University Park, Pa.; and the Universidad de Guanajuanta in Salamanca, Mexico.

This is the first year that the ASME Foundation and the ASME Auxiliary have given scholarships to FIRST students. The following students each received $5,000: David Bridge, Jordan M. Doll, Jeremy J. Egger, Seth K. Fontenot, Daniel R. Richardson, Joseph Shekiro III and Ryan R. Stewart.

The new chairman of the Auxiliary's Undergraduate Scholarship Committee is Barbara Phillips of the Mobile Gulf Section. Barbara takes over from Alverta Cover who previously held this position. Faye Cauley, also of the Mobile Gulf Section, is our new historian. She takes over from Glenna Harrington.
