ASME's Second Annual Microchannels and Minichannels
Conference will provide a platform for engineers and researchers to
exchange information and identify research needs in an emerging area
that encompasses many engineering and medical disciplines.
The conference will take place June 17-19 in Rochester, N.Y., following
ASME's Fuel Cell conference (see "Conference targets advances in
fuel cell R&D" in the November ASME NEWS). The general focus
of the conference will be on the fundamental aspects as well as practical
applications at the mini and micro-scale in the electronics cooling
and heat exchanger industry.
A special focus of the meeting will be on microchannels in silicon chips
and novel applications.
The topics to be covered include fluid flow, heat transfer and mass
transfer issues related to flow in passages 10 micrometers to about
3 mm. Topics related to single phase, flow boiling, flow condensation,
microfluidics, instrumentation and control, fuel cells, simulation and
modeling will also be addressed.
The conference will consist of plenary lectures and paper presentations.
The papers will be compiled and distributed to the participants in a
bound volume. If the authors would like, some of the papers will be
forwarded to specific journals for possible publication.
Conference attendees will have a chance to interact with international
experts in the field.
ASME is currently accepting one-page or 1,000-word abstracts for the
conference. Abstracts must be submitted by Dec. 31 to www.asme.org/events/micromini.
Firms are invited to exhibit related products at the conference, and
should contact ASME Advanced Technology Programs at (212) 591-7789 to
do so.
The fees for attending the conference are $475 for those who register
before April 30 and $525 for registrants after that date. The student
charge is $250.
For details and to register, visit www.asme.org/events/micromini,
contact Raj Manchanda at (212) 591-7789 or e-mail micromini@asme.org.
