While engineers talk, a growing public listens and learns Every day, on radio stations across the United States, the public is learning about the value of engineering from some of the people most qualified to explain it mechanical engineers. So far, more than 200 engineers have been interviewed for the new radio program, "Voices of Innovation," which was launched by the American Association of Engineering Societies in the spring to promote the engineering profession. The program runs daily on more than 65 public and commercial radio stations. During the two-minute feature, an engineer tells a story that explores and celebrates the world of engineering. Advances
in fuel cell technology will be subject of meeting in April The power of fuel cells and the capabilities of micro and minichannels will be the focus of a weeklong meeting during April in Rochester, N.Y. The first event of the meeting will be the International Conference on Fuel Cell Science, Engineering and Technology, which is scheduled for April 21-23. Read more. As hundreds of spectators looked on, 13 teams put their mechanical engineering abilities to the test during the final chapter of the 2002 ASME Student Design Competition during the Congress.
