New IGTI managing director named
Don H. Greene, P.E., who is a Certified Association
Executive, joined ASME last month as the new managing director of the
Society's International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI).
A resident of Suwanee, Ga., Greene will be responsible for the daily
operation and staff of the Atlanta-based IGTI, a technical institute
of ASME dedicated to supporting the exchange and development of information
to enhance the design, application, manufacture and maintenance of gas
turbines and related equipment and technology.
He will also lead the efforts behind IGTI's largest annual event, ASME
Turbo ExpoPower for Land, Sea and Air, which is scheduled to take
place in Atlanta, June 16-19.

to have Don join us as managing director of the IGTI," said Thomas
Loughlin, managing director of Engineering for ASME. "His many
years of experience with associations and industry will provide the
leadership and direction we need to enhance the institute's role as
a premier resource for members of the gas turbine community on both
the technological and educational fronts."
Prior to joining IGTI, Greene served for almost nine years as director
of member services and operations for Polaris International of Duluth,
Ga., an association of independent public accounting firms.
From 1984 to 1994, he held various positions of leadership at the Institute
of Industrial Engineers in Norcross, Ga., including project development
manager, staff engineer and membership manager. In 1981, Greene joined
Scientific-Atlanta Inc., in Lawrenceville, Ga., where he worked as an
industrial engineer.
Greene received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from
the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1980, and went on to earn a master's
in business administration from Georgia State University in 1988.
He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the
Georgia Society of Association Executives, the National Industrial Engineering
Honor Society (Alpha Pi Mu) and the National Business Honor Society
(Beta Gamma Sigma).
