The future of oil, gas and petrochemical technology will be the focus of ASME's Engineering Technology Conference on Energy (ETCE) 2002, to be held Feb. 4-5, 2002, at the Marriott North at Greenspoint in Houston.

ETCE 2002, which is hosted by ASME International's Petroleum Division, will feature four topical symposia, covering the areas of pipeline, drilling, production and energy resources technology.

The pipeline technology symposium will review the findings of recent R&D efforts and all major oil and gas industry projects performed by civil, mechanical and petroleum engineers and scientists. Discussion will include all areas of pipeline technologies, with particular emphasis on the latest structural design, installation, assessment, repair and maintenance activities.

The event's drilling technology symposium for mechanical and petroleum engineers will focus on the latest developments in drilling technology, including major industry projects, equipment and technology, and ongoing research and development efforts.

Technical papers presented during these sessions will explore a wide range of subjects, including risk management, pipeline and system integrity, offshore pipelines, defect assessment, deepwater and drilling rig technology, deep onshore drilling, multilateral drilling and novel drilling techniques.

The third technical track, the production technology symposium, will concentrate on late-breaking developments in equipment technology, new industry projects, and research and development.

The energy resources symposia will encompass 10 topics in engineering technology applications for successfully developing and operating oil and gas fields and plants.
Registration is $400 for members of ASME and cooperating societies, $450 for nonmembers. Registration for authors, panelists, conference chairs and vice chairs is $325. Registration is $30 for retired ASME Life Members and $25 for ASME student members. Nonmember students may register for $50. There is a $50 surcharge ($25 for students) for registrations made after Jan. 28. One-day registration is also available.
