Three new courses to be offered
in Houston
Three new short courses will be among the group of seminars ASME's
Continuing Education Institute will hold during the Engineering Technology
Conference on Energy (ETCE 2002) in Houston in February.
The courses will take place from Feb. 4-8 at the Wyndham Greens-point
Hotel in Houston.
One of the new classes, "Optimizing Feedwater Heater Performance
Operation and Maintenance Techniques," will be presented
on Feb. 4 and 5. Using examples of heater testing and case studies of
failed heaters, the course provides information and instruction on the
cost-efficient design, operations, maintenance, testing and replacement
of closed feedwater heaters. Registration is $695 for ASME members,
$795 for nonmembers.
Another new course, "The Layout of Piping Systems and Process
Equipment," will acquaint attendees with all aspects of piping
systems, including layout, design procedures and practices involved
in the location of equipment and layout of piping systems. The course
will also cover the procedures involved in the layout and piping up
of a typical process unit containing pumps, exchangers, horizontal drums
and vertical towers. Registration for the course, which will be held
on Feb. 5 and 6, is $715 for members, $815 for nonmembers. This is a
PVP Certificate Program course.
"Blueprint Reading and Graphic Symbols," the third new
short course, will be given from Feb. 5-7. This class will familiarize
attendees with blueprints and enable them to interpret the latest American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) and ASME graphic symbols. The course
will review the basics of orthographic drawings and current graphic
symbols published in ASNI/ASME and American Welding Society standards.
Registration is $855 for members, $955 for nonmembers.
Four other courses are also slated for Houston. "Heating, Ventilating,
and Air-Conditioning Systems Sizing and Design" will
take place from Feb. 4-6. Registration is $955 for members, $1,055 for
nonmembers. "Shock and Vibration Analysis" will be held
from Feb. 4-6. Registration is $895 for members, $995 for nonmembers.
"API 579: Recommended Practice for Fitness-for-Service and Continued
Operation of Equipment" will be offered from Feb. 4-6. Registration
is $1,095 for members, $1,195 for nonmembers. "Understanding Chiller
Performance, Operation and Economics" will be given on Feb. 8.
Registration is $455 for members, $555 for nonmembers.
