Currently, nominations for the Rice-Cullimore Scholarships come from the
Institute of International Education (IIE). Robert Bennett, chairman of the Rice-
Cullimore Scholarship Committee, proposed setting up a task force to look at
possible changes in the procedure for applicants to obtain the Rice-Cullimore Scholarships.

Nina Webb and Carolyn Chenoweth have asked to serve on this task force with Bennett. More information and the exact writing of the new proposal will come
in a future column.

For the 2001-2002 academic year, four Rice-Cullimore Scholarships were
given at the June 2001 meeting.

The recipients were: Rodrigo De Leon of Guatemala, a master's degree
student; Ergin Fahrettin of Turkey, a master's student; Julio Perez Contreras of Mexico, also a master's student, and Cibele Falkenberg of Brazil, who is studying for a doctorate.
