Energy Nano Conference, Nano Bootcamp to be held next month

The Fifth ASME Nano Training Bootcamp, which will consist of detailed and tutorial-based accounts of advances in fundamentals related to nanoscience, will be offered Sept. 5–7 at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, Calif.

The Nano Bootcamp will be held concurrently with the Society's Second Energy Nanotechnology Conference, also at the university.

Led by experts in academia and industry, the Nano Bootcamp will provide intense sessions on fundamentals, fabrication, characterization and materials, and devices. Bootcamp sessions will offer tutorials concerning advances in nanoscience fundamentals in a wide variety of fields, as well as the prospects for translating these advances into useful nanotechnologies.

In addition, several special interest topics will be highlighted at a joint plenary session, which will include attendees from the Energy Nanotechnology Conference also being held at the university. A lab practical will be hosted at Stanford University.

Registration for the Bootcamp is $1,495 for ASME members, $1,595 for members of other professional societies, and $1,995 for the general audience. Attendees from government agencies may register for $995. Students may register for $595.

ASME's Second Energy Nanotechnology Conference, co-located with the Nano Bootcamp, will focus on the state-of-the-art research and development in energy-related materials, nanoscale phenomena, devices, systems, manufacturing, and commercialization.

In addition to the Business Plan Competition — offered this year for the first time — the conference will also consist of plenary sessions, oral and poster presentations, and exhibitions. The meeting will also provide attendees with opportunities for communication and collaboration among industry, academia, and venture capital organizations.

Registration for the Second Energy Nanotechnology Conference is $625 for ASME members, $675 for nonmembers, $300 for nonmember students, and $250 for ASME student members.
