ASME to launch new medical devices journal
ASME is now accepting papers for its
newest Transactions journal, "The Journal of Medical Devices."
The premier issue of the journal is slated for publication this fall.
The new journal, which will focus on applied research and the development
of new medical devices or instrumentation, will be comprised of technical
papers examining mechanisms that improve diagnostic interventional and
therapeutic treatments.
The journal is sponsored and supported by ASME's Bioengineering and
Design Engineering divisions. Its editors are Arthur G. Erdman and Gerald
E. Miller.
"The Journal of Medical Devices" will provide special coverage
of novel tools that will lead to new surgical strategies, new methods
of drug delivery with a goal of helping to reduce the complexity and
cost of health care.
The Design Innovation section of the journal will feature papers focusing
on new and innovative devices, including some with limited clinical
or engineering results. The Medical Device News portion will provide
in-depth coverage of advances, trends, and events.
Papers published in the journal will cover such areas as new medical
sensors and actuators; orthopedic, cardiovascular, rehabilitation and
neurological devices; medical instrumentation; image-guided intervention
and treatment; bioheat transfer devices; human performance and force
assessment; endoscopic and laparoscopic devices; drug/cell deliver systems;
minimally invasive devices; medical robotics; tissue-engineered devices;
medical device design processes; medical device manufacturing; and human
factors in medical devices.
