New campaign for members gets under way

The new 2003-2004 Member-Get-A-Member campaign kicked off last month, offering opportunities for participating members, students and new members to network with a community of engineers.

ASME will contribute 50 percent of paid new members' first-year dues to scholarships when a member recommends them now through June 30, 2004. This means that more students will have access to financial support from ASME for their educational paths. The 2002-2003 Member-Get-A-Member campaign generated eight additional ASME Foundation scholarships.

New memberships must be affiliate or member levels; student memberships are not eligible.

ASME members who recommend two or more paid new members will receive Recognition for Volunteerism — a certificate of appreciation, at the end of the campaign, to signify support of the mechanical engineering profession and engineering colleagues. Membership applications received must include the recommending member's name and member I.D. number in order to properly credit the contribution to the ASME Foundation.

Recommending membership to your colleagues is easy. ASME will contact colleagues or friends on behalf of the recommending member if contact information is e-mailed to membership@asme.org.

New members will experience the benefits of ASME membership — technology transfer, access to a network of engineering experts, assistance with career advancement, leadership opportunities and much more.

The 2003-2004 Member-Get-A-Member campaign runs from July 1 through June 30, 2004. Visit www.asme.org/membershipdrive to learn more about the Member-Get-A-Member campaign and get started today.
