A Fellow of ASME, Armen is currently director of technology development
Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare Systems at Northrup
Grumman, where he has held supervisory and staff positions for 38 years.
His responsibilities include the oversight of an $18 million budget
and 50 employees.
Armen has been active in ASME since first becoming a member. He served
on the Board of Governors for three years, from 2000-2003. Prior to
his BOG service, Armen was senior vice president for the Council on
Public Affairs. He had been active in CPA since 1992.
His goals as president of ASME include continuing the Society's
public service that ensures the health, safety and welfare of society
generally, while increasing public awareness of the contributions made
by the engineering profession. Armen's other goals are increasing
the value of membership, and increasing global recognition, acceptance
and use of ASME codes and standards as well as its conformity assessment
programs.
During his term of office, Armen said he intends to achieve those goals
by ensuring a timely link between ASME's strategic planning and
the budget process. He also plans to institute fiscal responsibility,
accountability and consistency with ASME's vision, goals and
objectives, in all matters brought to the Board of Governors.
