New scholarship honors member of Pressure Vessel and Piping Division

The Pressure Vessel and Piping Division recently established the Robert F. Sammataro Pressure Vessel and Piping Division Memorial Scholarship to honor its past chair, who died earlier this year.

Sammataro retired in 1996 after 35 years with the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics and then continued his professional career with the Proto-Power Corp. He was a member of the Section XI Code Committee for 16 years.

The division has committed a total of $5,000 over the next five years to the ASME Foundation to be used to fund scholarships for ASME student members.

The first recipient of the $1,000 scholarship award is Michael T. Durand of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

More information on the qualifications for this scholarship and the educational support available through ASME's financial aid programs is at www.asme.org/educate/aid/index.html.
