Workshop, career fair help engineers become K–12 educators

If you're wondering if a career teaching K–12 students about science and technology is for you, ASME's Greater Trenton Section, which helped develop a workshop and career fair this month, may help you decide.

The workshop and career fair will take place April 24 from 6–8 p.m. at the College of New Jersey in Ewing, located near Trenton. The ASME Greater Trenton Section is presenting the event in cooperation with the Technology Educators Association of New Jersey, the College of New Jersey, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, and other engineering societies.

This workshop will provide an overview of contemporary technology education curriculum and explain pathways to teaching technology at middle and high schools. Prospective technology education employers will be on hand to highlight open positions and answer questions. Current technology education teachers will also be available to answer questions and serve as informal mentors to those who want more information.

Registration is required in advance and costs $10 per person. Participants can register at www.tcnj.edu/~teched or at www.teanj.org. For more information, please call Andrew Blelloch, vice chair of the Greater Trenton Section, at (609) 799-1475, or contact him by e-mail at blellochr1@asme.org.
