Beijing to host ICONE 13 in May

ICONE 13, the 13th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering, will take place May 16–20 at the Beijing International Convention Center in Beijing, China.

ICONE 13 is a technical conference on nuclear engineering. This year's topics include power plant operations, structural integrity and reliability of components, waste management, and decommissioning.

China was chosen as the site for ICONE 13 because it is one of the fastest-growing economies, and requires a large, reliable source of power to continue its growth. To meet energy demand, China has officially listed nuclear power as part of its national power plan. China will nearly quadruple its nuclear generating capacity by the year 2020.

ICONE 13 will cover technical codes and standards, and safety and security in nuclear facilities.

Sponsored by ASME, the Chinese Nuclear Society and the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, ICONE 13 is for engineers, scientists, electric utility managers, and other professionals who want to remain current on trends and developments in the nuclear field.

Featuring a paper competition for students, ICONE 13 will also foster the development of future nuclear professionals.
