BOG approves new organizational
structure
The Board of Governors approved a new organizational structure for ASME.
The Society is now embarking on a 15-month transition period, during
which details of the plan will be fleshed out and implemented.
ASME presents a special 'best'
award at Future City finals in Washington
Teams from 33 schools across the United States the winners of
their respective regional competitions in January exhibited model
futuristic cities that they built from scratch during
the Future City Competition finals, which were held during National
Engineers Week in Washington, D.C.
Willis and Joyce Gardner join the Archimedes Club
Longtime ASME Member and Life Fellow Willis W. Gardner is now also the
latest Founding Member of the ASME Foundation's Archimedes Club. Gardner
and his wife Joyce will be recognized as members at the Silver Level.
ASME President and an ASME Fellow both named to Homeland Security Advisory
Committee
The Homeland Security Advisory Committee was established to serve as
a source of independent, scientific and technical planning advice.
Two new Codes and Standards Committees looking for volunteers
The new committees will prepare revisions of "Performance Monitoring
Guidelines for Steam Power Plants" and "PTC 31 Ion Exchange
Equipment."
ASME members can receive MIT
course vouchers
The Society's Continuing Education Institute is working with
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to promote the university's
Summer Professional Institute week-long courses.
ASME Continuing Education Institute
begins training voucher program
The program can assist companies that pre-enroll in ASME
short courses by offering a saving of up to 35 percent off the standard
registration fee.
