The membership recruitment campaign that ASME started in August has brought in a total of $12,339 as of Feb. 28. For the month of February alone, $1,141 was raised.

Through this recruitment campaign, half of a new member's first-year dues will be given to scholarships for mechanical engineering students. Only the dues of new members who have been recruited by an ASME member will be contributed to scholarships.

The current total will fund approximately eight scholarships of $1,500 per student.
Scholarships are awarded to ASME student members based on their scholastic ability and potential contribution to the mechanical engineering profession. All ASME student members in good standing at the time of scholarship application are eligible to apply.

Scholarships are reviewed and recipients identified by the Scholarship Selection Committee and approved by the ASME Board on Engineering Education.

A total of 254 new members have joined since the program began last summer, with 31 of them enrolled in January. Overall, 227 members have taken part in this recruitment program by sponsoring a new member.
