At ASME Career Fair, members can market skills directly to recruiters

The ASME Career Fair is yet another reason to attend Turbo Expo 2001 in June in New Orleans.

During this one-day Career Fair on June 5, mechanical engineers at various levels — including those in senior and management positions — will be on hand to talk about job opportunities at their companies.

These representatives from across the United States will be at the Ernest Morial Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., recruiting engineers for positions from entry level to senior management.

The ASME Career Fair is exclusively for ASME members and there is no fee for them to attend. But attendees should bring plenty of resumes.

A few of the companies that have participated in previous ASME recruiting events include Boston Scientific, Honda, Carrier Corp. and Corning. Companies that are interested in setting up an exhibit booth to recruit at the Career Fair should call Amy Taylor at (800) 299-7494, ext. 308.

Anyone planning to attend the Career Fair can also post a resume online in advance. Resumes will be forwarded to the companies that will be recruiting at the Career Fair.

All resumes posted online will be collected in a database, which will also give members an opportunity to be contacted by interested companies after the event ends.

ASME members can post a resume online by going to www. asme.org/jobs.

This resume posting service is also available to ASME members who will be unable to attend the Career Fair.

Members can attend the Career Fair by: preregistering online at www.resume-link.com/careerfair2001/asme/neworleans.htm; showing up at the Career Fair with about 25 resumes; or mailing a copy of your resume to BrassRing, Dept. ASME, 5995 Wilcox Place, Dublin, OH 43016.
