Engineers, educators and scientists from across the globe will gather this November in Florida to learn about the research and applications that are shaping the future of engineering.
The meeting is the 2009 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, the world’s premier event for mechanical engineers. It will take place from Nov. 13-19 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Last year, more than 2,500 people attended the Congress in Boston, and this year’s meeting promises to draw a similar audience. Comprising nearly 350 sessions, the 2009 Congress technical program is forecast to be the most extensive and diverse in the conference’s history.
The event will feature a wide range of forums, workshops, seminars, social events and hands-on demonstrations giving attendees the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with fellow professionals from hundreds of different companies and organizations from around the world.
Technical sessions at the 2009 Congress will be divided into 20 tracks, examining such subject areas as advances in aerospace technology; biomedical and biotechnology engineering; combustion science and engineering; design and manufacturing; electronics and photonics; emerging technologies; engineering education and professional development; and engineering to address climate change.
Other topics to be covered in the technical program include heat transfer, fluid flows and thermal systems; mechanical systems and control; mechanics of solids, structures and fluids; micro and nano systems; processing and engineering applications of novel materials; safety engineering, risk analysis and reliability methods; sustainable products and processes; transportation systems; sound, vibration and design; and new developments in simulation methods and software for engineering applications.
