Members of the ECLIPSE program (Early Career Leadership Intern Program to Serve Engineering) met with top ASME leaders last month to begin a process of identifying future leaders of the society.
Incoming and outgoing participants of ECLIPSE who attended the Leadership Training Conference last month in Los Angeles met for dinner with ASME’s Volunteer Orientation and Leadership Training (VOLT) Academy.
The goal of the ECLIPSE program, which is administered by ASME’s Center for Leadership and Diversity, is to engage, identify and begin to develop potential leaders for ASME by placing early career engineers in highly visible and productive roles within the ASME organization.
Sponsored by VOLT, the dinner served as an informal meeting to give current and incoming ECLIPSE interns a chance to introduce themselves to each other and to senior ASME leaders. Current interns shared their experiences in the program, while the incoming interns spoke about their hopes and expectations. The interns and ASME leaders also discussed how VOLT and ECLIPSE volunteers could work together to enhance future intern and mentor programs.
More details on the ECLIPSE program and its participants will be available in the May issue of ASMEnews. For more information, also visit www.asme.org/Governance/Volunteer/Early_Career_Leadership.cfm.
